Description
The 6th edition of the Fête du Gypse aux Bottières is a must-attend event for arts and crafts enthusiasts. For two days, plunge into the fascinating world of gypsum and explore the many facets of this unique stone.
2026 Program:
Saturday starting at 4:30 p.m.:
- 4:30 p.m.: Lecture: “The Geological, Mining, and Industrial Heritage of Our Valley” by Laëtitia Léonard
- 5:00 PM: Guided hike (led by Serge Truchet)
- 6:00 PM: Mass at the Chapelle des Colonnes, followed by a sale of local bread and complimentary Chicholle
- 7:00 PM: Light refreshments
- 7:00 PM: Creation of a fresco on plaster, performed in front of the audience by Twane (painter)
- 8:00 PM: Concert featuring “Accordages”
- 10:30 PM: Fireworks and a community dance hosted by Maurice, with music by Sono Blue Night
Sunday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM:
Live music throughout the day by “Les Crinquignottes”
- 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM: Craft market / Classic car show / Gypsum carving demonstration / Face painting and children’s games / “Rêve Général” activities by the “Colporteurs de Rêves” / Rifle shooting / Bottle smashing / Slate painting by Twane, etc.
- 10:30 AM: Presentation of the sculptors and their works
- 11:30 AM: Sale of local bread
- 12:00 PM: Musical aperitif
- 12:30 PM: Festive and traditional meal
- 10:30 AM - 4:30 PM: Tour of the gypsum quarry
- 5:00 PM: Raffle drawing
- 5:30 PM: People’s Choice Award
The Grand Filon Museum will be present as part of efforts to promote the geological heritage of the Maurienne region.
