Lake Hurtières, located in Saint-Alban-d’Hurtières, is the perfect place for young and old to enjoy a relaxing day out with family and friends!

Getting there

A beach in the mountains

Lac des Hurtières is ideally situated in a south-facing valley. With your feet in the water and your eyes focused on the summits, all you have to do is close your eyes to recharge your batteries.

Beach games are on offer, and while the little ones splash around building sandcastles, the older ones swim “up to the buoy”. There’s also peace of mind in the knowledge that swimming is supervised by two lifeguards between 12pm and 6pm every day in July and August. Petanque, Molki, beach volleyball? A game with friends and the long-awaited moment of the picnic arrives.

You can enjoy local specialities such as ewe’s milk cheese from the Ferme des Cathelins, a small beer from the Brasserie du Grand Pic… It’s all about conviviality and good food!

One zone Natura 2000

On the other side of the beach, the northern part of the lake is protected and cannot be accessed, so why not?

In recent years, Lac des Hurtières has gradually become one of Savoie’s favourite bathing spots. But this body of water is not just a bathing and leisure area, it is above alla remarkable natural site that has been classified Natura 2000 since 2002 and managed by the Conservatoire des Espaces Naturels de Savoie since 1995.

What is a Natura 2000 area? The natterjack toad and the orchid are fragile species? Now’s the time to find out: take the short path leading to the observatory. All along the way, there are fun and educational markers to help you discover the riches and challenges of the Natura 2000 area. Once you reach the observatory, the view over the blue lake is magical and… peaceful! You can take your time to observe this unspoilt natural area, enjoying the peace and quiet that surrounds you.

different fish Lake fishing

This lake offers a fishing zone where different kinds of fish can be caught:

Perch: fishing with a small live fish will give very good results. Note that the regulations only allow live fish from the lake, so always take a small rod with you.
At Les Hurtières, the perch are usually found near the pontoons, at the start of the fishing area. You can also look for ultra-light perch with spoons or soft lures. You may also be surprised by a nice trout running down the stream to fatten up in the lake.

Whitefish: look for them after the shallows. You’ll need a rod at least 5m long. Don’t hesitate to look for them beyond a depth of 2 m, by presenting them with a maggot or a grain of wheat.
