Claude

My name is Claude, I'm retired and I love the mountains. I'm passionate about discovering, meeting new people and exploring nature in the Alps, so I decided to settle in the Maurienne, in the heart of the Alps, to explore this authentic valley full of character.

Tioulevé, immersed in nature

A hike rated difficult for its steep gradient.
9 km in the mountains, sometimes in the forest, sometimes with impressive views of the surrounding peaks, will lead you to this pretty piece of mirror reflecting the immense sky.

It’s 7 o’clock in the morning. Michèle and I have just finished breakfast. Our rucksacks are ready: camera, well-stocked water bottles, walking sticks, opinel, sun cream… It’s all there. We’re off for my favourite hike: the Lac Noir, the jewel in the crown of the Lauzière.

Leaving Montsapey, we head for the hamlet of Tioulévé, the end of the village. Here, there are no ski lifts, no Wi-Fi… just unspoilt nature. What a pleasure it is to breathe the pure air, listen to the silence and admire these magnificent landscapes.

The hamlet of Tioulévé is the starting point for many hikes. It’s an ideal place to recharge your batteries and get close to happiness. Today, we’re off on a walk of around 4? hours, filled with contemplation and wonder. We park at the Relais du Lac Noir, then take the path heading upstream. After a hundred metres or so, we fork right.

After leaving the picturesque hamlet of Tioulévé, we head into the forest. From the footbridge, watch the water tumbling down the sides of the mountain; it draws all its power and freshness from there. At the end of the path you’ll find its source.

The path winds gently through pastures to the Lac Noir stream, which we cross via the Luzerat footbridge. We continue towards the weir, aiming for the ridge.

Once we reach the Char de la Turche, the path descends along the southern ridge before branching off to the east and returning to the pastures. Michèle takes a break to capture the surrounding scenery – a few souvenirs to show our grandchildren!

At the foot of the latter, below the Chenalet spring, we continue eastwards, beginning the descent through the mountain pastures. On the way, we leave the path leading to the Barbet reservoir on our right.

At the chalets, on the edge of the forest, we turn left to quickly join the track leading back to Tioulévé.

And to round off this wonderful day, a break at the Relais du Lac Noir is a must. This little corner of paradise is the perfect place to savour delicious local produce, cooked with passion.
