What equipment do I need to bring to the mountains in winter?

When you come to the mountains, you have a choice of specific equipment for driving on snow: – Snow tyres: All 4 wheels of the vehicle must be fitted with snow tyres. – Chains: Chains must be fitted to the vehicle’s drive wheels. – Socks: The pair of socks must be fitted to the vehicle’s drive wheels. However, to prolong the life of the chains and socks, they should only be fitted when the roads are snow-covered. When the tarmac reappears, remove them.

How to get to Bonvillard :

From Grenoble, Annecy or Geneva: A41 motorway, then A43 / exit 26 “La Chambre”.
From Lyon, Chambéry or Albertville: A43 motorway / exit 26 “La Chambre”.

From Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne :

Take the A43 motorway towards Turin (Fréjus Tunnel, Italy), exit n°27 Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne. From Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, allow 9 km to reach Les Bottières, i.e. around 15 minutes.

Specific equipment is compulsory from 1 November to 31 March each year.
