Beaunie is a Maurienne cow. The themed trails allow young and old alike to discover the region’s special features in a simple, fun way. Between discovering the slate mines and hiding among the wooden huts and gypsum sculptures, the whole family can learn more about the history of the Maurienne and its traditions.

Slate quarry path 

Saint-Julien-Montdenis

Émile, I can’t find our cow Beaunie. She must still be hiding to escape milking. She’s probably on the slate quarry path! Would you like to come with me? I’ve always wanted to show you what I do for a living.

This trail plunges you into the day-to-day life of the slate quarry workers, highlighting the techniques used, the evolution of the site and the impact of this activity on the region. A booklet with games, available from the tourist office, accompanies children throughout the walk for a fun and interactive discovery. A cultural and nature trail, ideal for families, combining walking and discovery.

Albiez-Montrond

François, a mountain pasture shepherd, his wife Augustine, their daughter Elisabeth and their little calf Beaunie invite you to discover their life on the mountain pasture. An invitation to discover the organisation of the mountain pasture, its fauna, flora and landscapes.

A fun and informative trail around the mountain pastures of Albiez. Audio terminals are installed along the way to help you find the solutions to the activities. Please note that the trail is open from May to October, subject to favourable conditions.

Cabin trail

Beaunie takes you on a walk along a path where gypsum sculptures, wooden huts and games blend into the natural environment. Meet the spirits of the imagination and turn the blocks to answer the riddles.

It’s a trail that invites you to listen to and observe the environment. A booklet with games, available from the tourist office, accompanies children throughout the walk for a fun and interactive discovery. The trail is accessible to wheelchair users and pushchairs.
