Description

This pleasant walk leads to the Chapelle des Voûtes, a remarkable reminder of the Vallée des Villards’ religious heritage. An easy route combining local history, nature and the legacy of former mountain paths.
Starting from the hamlet of Premier-Villard, this easy hike leads to the Chapelle des Voûtes, one of the most notable heritage sites in the Vallée des Villards. Built along an old mule track, the chapel once stood on a key route used by local inhabitants travelling between the mountain villages and the settlements in the valley below. Recently restored, it has retained its authentic character and offers a fascinating glimpse into the region’s past. Visitors can still see ancient graffiti preserved on one of its walls, providing a rare testimony to local history. The route passes through a peaceful natural setting, ideal for discovering the area’s rural and religious heritage. A drinking water fountain located in front of the chapel also makes for a welcome stop along the way.
