This aerial hike along the crest trail leads to the typical alpine village of Montdenis. Once used daily by local inhabitants and slate quarrymen, the route reveals its history, fauna and flora at reading tables.
The "sentier des crêtes" offers a panoramic and challenging approach to Montdenis, an ancient alpine village perched high above the valley. This historic route, once the axis of daily life, linked the hamlet to the valley and the slate-mining areas. The route alternates between balconies, more mineral areas and pastoral sections, requiring sure-footedness and a good feel for the terrain. All along the way, reading tables provide information on the demanding work of the slate quarrymen, as well as on the natural environments traversed, rich in mountain flora and fauna. A hike that's at once physical, cultural and contemplative, ideal for lovers of character trails.
