A beautiful walk on the heights of Jarrier towards the Notre-Dame des Chambeaux chapel. The route winds through the Chambeaux mountain pastures, dominated by the eponymous chapel. It's a round trip on a wide path.
This itinerary is a magnificent winter getaway combining nature, sport and heritage. Accessible from the village, this snowshoe hike appeals as much to active families as to Nordic hikers in search of measured effort and authentic scenery. The route begins in the peaceful atmosphere of Jarrier's traditional hamlets. The climb, which is steady but not technically demanding, allows you to progress at your own pace while enjoying unobstructed views of the Aiguilles d'Arves and the Maurienne valley. Along the way, you'll come across a number of chapels typical of the local heritage. Among them, the Chapelle des Chambeaux, the highest perched chapel in the village, bears witness to the local people's attachment to their mountains. The first chapel was built here in 1864, before being destroyed by a violent storm in 1935. Thanks to the determination of faithful parishioners, it was rebuilt in 1941 and today remains a symbol of perseverance and faith in the face of the elements.
