Description
Let yourself be surprised by this village church, listed as a Monument Historique since 1990. Built in 1626 and enlarged in 1703, it boasts a richly decorated interior painted by Charles Prarioz and a magnificent coffered ceiling adorned with rosettes.
Every Wednesday during the summer, volunteers from the Association pour la Sauvegarde du Patrimoine de Jarrier (Jarrier Heritage Preservation Association) invite you to visit the church of Saint-Pierre, under the auspices of the parish, with a welcome drink.
You can also visit the Moulin de Jarrier eco-museum.
Interior decoration circa 1875, with the Transfiguration on the hexagonal dome, based on the work of Raphael.
The altarpiece with statues of Saint Antoine and Saint Etienne (patron saint of the many slate quarry workers in the Maurienne) is by François Rymellin, executed between 1861 and 1867.
