Circuits du talc

Elevation : 1100m
Chef Lieu, 73130 Saint-Colomban-des-Villards

Description

This hike offers the opportunity to discover a lesser-known chapter of the Vallée des Villards’ history through the remains of its former talc mining activity.
Starting from either Les Roches or Valmaure, the route follows sections of the old track once used by wagons carrying talc extracted from mines located higher up the valley. These mines operated until the beginning of the First World War and played an important role in local life. The trail passes through woodland areas and open landscapes with pleasant views of the surrounding mountains. Starts: -Roches hamlet (in the middle of the hamlet, the torrent is spanned by two very close bridges). The path starts near the bridge located higher, on the torrent left (right bank). -Valmaure hamlet.
